UNLOCK THE

POTENTIAL OF

YOUR STUDENTS

& THE POWER OF

YOUR TEACHING

Macmillan, a name synonymous with education across the globe, in collaboration with UNSW Global, brings you ICAS, the most comprehensive educational assessment program available.

ICAS assesses students every year from over 20 countries and covers more skill areas than any other assessment provider. This is an international benchmark that can be relied upon.  ICAS gives teachers deep insight into the true capabilities of students assessing the higher order thinking and problem-solving skills needed to achieve success in:

 English

 Mathematics

 Science

 Digital Technologies

FOR SCHOOLS

ICAS provides powerful insights into:

- Where individual students are succeeding and where they may need extra focus

- Performances across year levels, classes and other subgroups

- Strengths and weaknesses at a whole school, grade and class level

- Student performance in comparison to peers nationally and internationally

- Student development over time.

FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS

Participating in ICAS helps students:

- Understand why their teachers might be suggesting changes in the classroom to help everyone reach their full potential.

- Gain valuable experience in taking international assessments

- Understand how they compare with other students within their school and region

- Track progress over time

- Be aware of the skills they could work on in order to improve

- Identify which skills are their strongest

THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE

INTERNATIONAL BENCHMARK

OF LEARNING PROGRESS

Innovative schools are triangulating ICAS data with other indicators to obtain a full picture of student capability and development. They are also using ICAS to validate other assessments, develop tailored learning programs, enhance curriculum content, recognise and reward engagement in learning, and identify professional development needs.

For students and parents, individualised paper and online reports provide a detailed picture of student strengths and weaknesses. Students are able to see the answer they gave to each question, as well as the correct answer; their performance in each skill area assessed; and their comparative performance nationally. UNSW Global ICAS certificates also recognise student achievement.

DECADES OF ASSESSMENT DEVELOPMENT

EXPERIENCE UNDERPINNED

BY PSYCHOMETRIC ANALYSIS

ICAS has always moved with the times. New assessments are developed every year and each is geared towards today’s students.

Assessment frameworks for each subject take into account the skill requirements of curricula internationally. This allows ICAS to operate independently of any given curriculum while remaining relevant to what is taught in classrooms.

Subject matter experts develop ICAS questions, drawing on their in-depth understanding of the ways students learn. The questions use appropriate examples and authentic contexts and are presented in a visually appealing way to capture attention and sustain interest. Engaging questions are considered vital to reliable results. To further ensure reliability, assessments undergo rigorous reviews by developers and psychometricians at each stage of construction.

UNLOCK

YOUR CHILD’S TRUE

POTENTIAL

Every parent wants to see their child reach their full potential.

ICAS gives parents and teachers deep insight into the true capabilities of children assessing the higher order thinking and problem-solving skills needed

for success in:

English

Mathematics

Science

Digital Technologies

Every year, students in over 20 countries are tapping into ICAS to track and lift performance. Importantly, they are doing this without the added stress of study; ICAS does not assess how well a student remembers what they have been taught, it assesses the skills that underpin curricula internationally.

FROM DATA TO DIRECTION

ICAS’s rich diagnostic reports, given to both students and schools, are its unique advantage, made ever more valuable because of ICAS’s long history of data collection.

ICAS reports enable you to:

- Pinpoint your child's strengths which skills they excel in

- Identify skill areas to be worked on, either for remediation or skill development

- See the answer your child gave to each question, as well as the correct answer

- Track performance over time

- Obtain an external view of how your child is performing

- See your child’s comparative performance nationally, using an external benchmark.

UNSW Global ICAS certificates also recognise student achievement.

More than 8.9 million students have participated in ICAS to develop their skills.
